BOTANICAL SPECIES: illicium verum.
ORIGINS: place of origin of this plant, belonging to the Magnoliaceae family, it turns out to be South-Eastern Asia. It is currently also cultivated in Japan, Java and the Philippines.
DESCRIPTION: the part used is the fruit, which has the appearance of a star formed by 6 ÷ 12 follicles (usually 8) on average 15 mm long, pointed, reddish-brown and each containing a shiny and lighter seed. The taste is sweetish and the smell, aromatic, is very pleasant.
USES AND APPLICATIONS: as a flavoring; in medicine as stomachic and carminative. The essential oil that is obtained by distillation with water vapor, called badiana oil, is used in pharmacies, in the liqueur industry and in the confectionery industry. It is also used for Biedermeier compositions
STORAGE METHODS: The product should be stored in a cool and dry place, away from sources of light and heat.
MINIMUM SHELF LIFE: 24/36 months in compliance with the storage methods.
